Library Elections May 30, 2008

The next library election for the Galway Public Library will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at the Galway Town Hall from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Absentee ballot applications are available in the library to qualified voters of the Galway Central School District who will not be able to vote on Election Day.
There are two vacancies on the library board of trustees, one three-year term and one five-year term of office. One seat will be vacated by Harold Moran on June 30. There are three years remaining on this term of office. One seat is currently held by Linda Carpenter whose one year term of office expires on June 30. Linda Carpenter and Evelyn Hanna are running for the open seats. The person receiving the higher number of votes will get the five-year term; the other person will get the three-year term.
Residents will also vote on the annual appropriation for the library in the amount of $89,500. All registered voters in the Galway Central School District are eligible to vote in the library election.
